🌷 For the Women Searching for Calm
If you’ve been craving more peace, connection, and confidence, I invite you to explore my Venus Rising Sisterhood Circle Blogs. I'll be adding each month's circle theme and handouts here as blogs - so even if you can't join us in person, you can still walk in this jouney with us. My hope is that these reflections, tips and practices will offer some guidance, comfort, and gentle reminders of your worth.
Each post shares the same teachings, reflections, and journaling prompts I offer in our in-person gatherings here in Hastings, New Zealand.
My hope is to help as many women as possible reconnect with their inner calm and rediscover that they are already whole.

🌿 September 2025 Sisterhood Circle: Calming Your Nervous System
A trauma-informed guide to reconnecting with calm, safety, and self-trust.
When women gather in safe spaces, healing happens. As a trauma-informed life coach, woman empowerment photographer, and the founder of the Venus Rising Sisterhood Circle here in Hastings, I’ve witnessed the quiet power that blooms when women are seen, supported, and celebrated.
Each month, our circle explores a new theme designed to nurture emotional wellbeing, deepen self-awareness, and strengthen self-love.
For September, our theme was Nervous System Calming Practices — gentle, grounding tools to help women understand their bodies, regulate stress, and return to peace.
Whether you’re part of our local circle or reading from afar, my hope is that this month’s reflections and journal prompts help you feel safe, held, and empowered in your own journey home to yourself. 💜
🌸 Understanding Your Nervous System
Your nervous system is your body’s internal communication network — the bridge between your brain, your body, and the world around you. It helps you sense, respond, and protect yourself when something feels unsafe.
But when stress or trauma becomes ongoing, your body can get stuck in survival mode, making it hard to fully relax, even when you want to.
The beauty is, your body can also learn safety again. Through intentional calming practices, you can remind your nervous system: “I’m safe now. It’s okay to rest. It’s okay to breathe.”

This month, we explored tools and rituals that bring peace to the body, balance to the mind, and softness to the heart.
✨ Week 1: Immediate Methods – In-the-Moment Reset
We began by focusing on what to do in the moment — those times when anxiety or overwhelm suddenly takes over. Deep breathing, grounding techniques, and even the simple act of splashing cool water on your face can send powerful messages to your body that it’s safe to calm down.
These are your lifelines — quick, accessible ways to bring yourself back when the storm feels strongest.

What signs does my body give me when I’m overwhelmed, and what helps me return to calm?
✨ Week 2: Mind–Body Techniques
Your body and mind are always in conversation. Slow, intentional movement, gentle stretching, or a few quiet minutes of breath work can regulate that conversation and bring harmony back into your system. When we move with mindfulness, we don’t just release tension — we also release emotions we didn’t even realise we were holding.

How does my body respond emotionally when I slow down and move with presence?
✨ Week 3: Sensory & Environmental Approaches
This week, we tuned into our senses and the spaces around us. The textures we feel, the sounds we hear, the scents we breathe — all of these can signal safety to the body.
Something as simple as humming, wrapping yourself in a soft blanket, or lighting a candle can create a shift toward calm.
Your environment can either activate your stress or anchor your peace — so it’s worth creating spaces that feel nurturing, grounding, and gentle.

✨ Week 4: Long-Term Strategies for Nervous System Resilience
Healing the nervous system isn’t about quick fixes — it’s about consistent kindness. Regular sleep, gentle movement, nourishing food, gratitude journaling, and connection with others all help your body build long-term resilience.
Our circle conversations this week reminded us that connection itself is medicine. Sharing openly in community releases oxytocin — the “bonding hormone” that literally calms the nervous system.
Every time you show up, breathe deeply, and let yourself be seen, you are healing in ways you might not even realise.
💫 Journal to explore:
What long-term habits or rhythms help me feel balanced, nourished, and grounded?
đź’Ś A Loving Reminder
Your nervous system is always listening. Every time you choose calm over chaos, presence over pressure, and compassion over criticism, you send a healing message to your body:
“I am safe. I am worthy of rest. I am allowed to relax.”
These practices are not about perfection — they’re about creating moments of peace that add up over time.
My hope in sharing these monthly themes as blog posts is to extend the circle beyond Hastings — to reach every woman who might need a reminder that she’s not alone, that her body is wise, and that peace is possible.
May these practices and journaling prompts become your own sacred ritual — a way to come home to yourself, again and again. 🌿
With love and light,

Nikki Xx
